FAQ
What is Anodyne?
Anodyne reviews intraoral photos for an initial assessment and prepares a PDF report. Findings and suggested ICDAS codes need a dentist's review. Organization accounts, text consultation and booking at clinics with active booking are also available.
Does Anodyne replace the dentist?
No. Anodyne is a diagnostic support tool that helps the dentist see findings faster and explain them better to the patient. The final diagnosis and treatment decision always rest with the treating dentist, and the Anodyne report does not replace a clinical examination.
What is the ICDAS index?
ICDAS is an international system for describing the severity of tooth decay with codes 0 to 6, from a sound surface to an extensive cavity. Using this common language makes the report understandable and comparable for dentists. The "What is the ICDAS index?" page has the full explanation.
Which images can I send for analysis?
Send 1 to 3 clear intraoral photos of one patient in JPG, PNG or WebP format, up to 10 MB per file. A phone or intraoral camera photo should have enough light and good focus. An image report does not replace a prescribed X-ray or an examination.
How long does the analysis and report take?
The time for the report to be ready depends on the quality and number of images, the processing queue and service availability; the status of each step is shown on the analysis page and you can leave the page in the meantime.
What does the Anodyne report include?
The analyzed image with suspicious areas marked, a summary of findings, findings for each tooth with its number and location, the follow-up priority level, a suggested action window (e.g. under 72 hours, within 30 days or periodic monitoring) and a clinical reminder. The report can be downloaded and printed as a PDF.
How is the cost of using Anodyne calculated?
Usage is credit-based: each full analysis with a PDF report uses one credit, whether you send one image or three. Credits are bought in packages, and if an analysis fails or is cancelled, the credit is returned to your account.
Are there organization accounts for clinics?
Yes. A clinic can have an organization account, add members with an invite code, set a quota for each member and see the organization's credit usage. For hospitals, insurers and larger organization contracts, contact us.
Where are my images and reports stored, and who has access to them?
Images and reports are stored on Anodyne's servers and can only be viewed through your user account (or authorized members of your organization, according to the assigned permissions). To generate the report text, images may be processed by an AI processing service. The details are on the privacy page and you can delete your analyses.
Can I book a dental appointment through Anodyne?
Yes, at clinics that are members of Anodyne and have enabled online booking. On the clinics page you can choose a clinic, doctor, service and open time and book your appointment.
What is Anodyne's text consultation?
Text consultation is a smart conversation about oral and dental health and about the details of your analysis report. It does not give a definitive diagnosis and does not replace an in-person visit. Every three messages in the consultation use one credit.
What should I do in an emergency?
Anodyne is not designed for emergencies. In case of severe pain, facial swelling, fever, bleeding or a blow to a tooth, go to a dentist or emergency care center immediately.
