Guide to photographing your teeth for AI analysis

Image quality is the most important factor in the accuracy of any image analysis. With a few simple tips you can take a photo with your phone that shows the details of the tooth surfaces well.

Before taking the photo

  • Brush your teeth so there is no food left on them.
  • Clean the phone's camera lens.
  • If you can, get someone to help; photographing your own mouth is harder.

Light and focus

  • Take the photo in daylight or under even white light.
  • A direct flash may cause reflections; if needed, use a soft flashlight from the side.
  • Tap on the teeth so the camera focuses and hold the phone steady.
  • Instead of heavy digital zoom, bring the phone a little closer.

Suggested angles and views

In Anodyne you can send 1 to 3 images of one person per analysis. These views are usually useful:

  • Front view with teeth together and lips pulled back
  • Upper jaw view with the mouth open (chewing surface of the back teeth)
  • Lower jaw view with the mouth open

Sending images in Anodyne

Images in JPG or PNG format and up to 10 MB per file are accepted. After sending, you see the analysis steps live, and the report is usually ready once processing finishes.

Remember that image analysis doesn't replace an examination. If you have pain or swelling, see a dentist instead of waiting for the report.

Analyze photos of your teeth

Sign up and, once processing finishes, see the report of suspicious areas; then review the result with your dentist.
